Notre Dame Welcomes Father Dowd

Father Robert Dowd, C.S.C., inauguration as the 18th president of the University of Notre Dame was distinctly Catholic and also overwhelmingly celebratory. With no hint of any fault lines in the university’s Catholic identity, there was also no hint of Father Dowd’s views on this crucial question. However, of interest, was Father Dowd’s announcement of a new “no loan” policy on student financial aid.
