Notre Dame and The Election
It’s no surprise that Notre Dame leaned toward Kamala Harris for president, despite her staunch pro-abortion stance. Yet, compared to other major universities, Notre Dame displayed more political balance, with faculty and students accepting the Trump victory without the classroom cancellations and “emotional trauma” seen elsewhere.
Nevertheless, troubling signs remain. For example, in its program on “Faith and the Election” for students, Campus Ministry deliberately sidestepped the bishops’ guidance on abortion as the “preeminent priority” for Catholic voters.
